Welcome!
Sojourner Truth Academy (STA) faculty and staff are excited to kick off our 4th year! We are proud of scholar achievements and growth over the past three years and anticipate bigger and better successes during 2011-12. There are a lot of new things to celebrate here at STA! We have a new facility, a new football team (GO JAGUARS!), and new academic programs including after school tutoring!
Last summer our scholars visited colleges and universities in Tennessee, Georgia and Washington DC - our scholars are excited about college and visiting schools is just the first step down that path. Last school year, our scholars completed over 2,500 hours of community service in and around New Orleans! This number is representative of our core values and mission which is to prepare all of our scholars for lives that include not only college but also a commitment to positive change for themselves, their families, the city of New Orleans and the world. We look forward to surpassing that number of hours this year as our Senior class members will each complete 30 hours, Juniors 20 hours, Sophomores 15 hours and Freshmen 10 hours of service by June of 2012!

Congratulations Jaguars!
The Sojourner Truth soccer team just won the Spring 2011 Recreational Co-Ed Division in the Crescent City Soccer League. Lead by Juniors Ali Abdur-Rahman, Nahum Membreno, Terrell Dozier, and Sophomore Michael Graham, the STA soccer team had an incredibly successful season posting a record of 9 wins, 2 ties, and 1 loss.
